As a child, Chef Dora always loved food. Grandpa’s slow-roasted Hoisin Turkey with Shitake chestnut stuffing wasn’t called ‘Fusion Cuisine’ back then, it was just good old-fashioned cooking. Over the last few generations, Dora’s family has developed its own culinary tradition by combining farm fresh ingredients with Asian flavors and inventive American cuisine. There has always been a deep-seeded respect for breaking bread and soaking up time around the table with family and friends as well as visitors from out of town.
Building on this foundation, Chef Dora has borrowed from her experiences over the last two decades as a professional chef, continuously honing her craft and refining her own exquisite flavor combinations until a mixture of cross cultural influences and regional classics became the trademark of her culinary style…and her warm family approach to hospitality, the hallmark of her quality of service.
Chef Dora’s grandfather was the family patriarch as well as the owner of a small restaurant in Northern California where he shared his love of hearty American comfort food with friends, neighbors and regular customers. He always considered his customers his extended family, so he cooked with love for his large and growing “family” every day. It brought him great joy to provide nourishing, flavorful food to all, and see the happiness that it brought them, measured in their smiling faces.
Like her grandfather before her, what brings Chef Dora joy and fulfilment is sharing her love for food by sharing her love through food. As she often says, “These are the moments that make life so sweet…so share the moment, the wholesome goodness, the love and the joy”.
Whether they be relatives, friends, neighbors or clients – or even first time visitors from out of town – they are all family when they sit down at Dora’s table, family in food.
